DIY Mongolian Lamb Stools

I have been eyeing anything with Mongolian Lamb for some time now.

I've spotted some fabulous scarves, pillows and upholstered furniture on Pinterest and other interior design websites. I've also ran across some fabulous pillows while shopping and just LOVED how soft they felt.

Then, the angels began to sing when I stumbled upon a blog post.
The light bulb went off!
Nadia at Preciously Me inspired me with her DIY Mongolian Lamb Stool.

DUH... I could TOTALLY do some myself!

So, I went out looking for some stools. I wanted something a little more sturdy than what Nadia had used.
I found these vanity stools at HomeGoods.

Not EXACTLY what I was looking for... but, the size, sturdiness and price tag made me say....

SCORE!

Once I realized that the seats were easily removable and about the size of a Mongolian Lamb Pillow that I had been eyeing at West Elm..... I was in motion.

As I was heading home from the purchase of the stools, I stopped at West Elm to pick up 2 pillow covers. They are currently on sale and West Elm gives teachers {and military} 10% off everyday. So, I got these pillow covers for under $50 each. I know it's still not cheap..... but, I have been doing my research and "hunting" and this was pretty much the best price on white. So, I went for it!

I knew I was cutting it close with the size. So, I just went ahead and cut open the bottom panel of the pillow cover. I was hoping I would be able to shove the stool seat inside the cover to make sure that the entire seat was covered.

It was like trying to button up your pants after having an enormous Thanksgiving meal.

But, I DID it! {I mean shove the seat into the pillow cover.... although, I have had trials buttoning up my pants after an enormous Thanksgiving meal --- who hasn't? ---- wink! wink!}

YIPPEE!

I didn't like the coloring of the stool legs. I wanted something a little more glam.

So, I reached for my Gold Leaf Rub 'n Buff.  It took about 1 tube per stool to complete.

Then it was as simple as screwing the tops onto the bottoms.

And whoop there it is..... or they they are.... my very own DIY Mongolian Lamb Stools.

Not super cheap. About $100 per stool.

But, have you prices these stools, ottomans or benches? Insane in the membrane!
So, these are worth it to me for the amount of glam I wanted to add.

They fit perfectly at the foot of my bed.

And when I see them, I just can't help but smile.

Even though they compliment this room VERY nicely, I have many options of where I can place them.

Their current home is actually in our entry tucked underneath the burlwood foyer table.

LOVELY!

Have you done any FABULOUS DIY projects lately?

Have a DIVINE week, friends!
