PARTIES: A Fiesta

I'm finally posting about my hubby's Latin Themed Birthday Party... and today just so happens to be MY birthday... I see cake again in my near future.

Anyway.

Kiddo and I had a fun time planning a small and quaint bday party for our favorite man.
We had the Latin music playing in the background both during the preparations and the party.
What a FUN time!

Once I found these free printables from The 36th Avenue... that pretty much set the stage for our color scheme and decor ideas. It can sometimes be a challenge coming up with a theme for an adult birthday party, but this was a simple and easy theme.

This was also a FANTASTIC opportunity to utilize my fabric from Guatemala.
It's so vibrant and fun and a perfect complement to the party theme.

I created some simple signs for the beverage and food stations.

Candles lined countertops to evoke an inviting atmosphere. They were perfect as the party transitioned from late evening into the dark of night.

I really scored at Target when I found this wrapping paper. Same color-scheme with the Fiesta Feel all over it!
Hip-hip-hooray!

We, of course, included tissue decorations that hung from the ceiling in red, teal, and yellow.
Such fun colors.

We had some gluten-free guests at the party, so we made sure our entire menu was acceptable for their restrictions, yet yummy for all our guests. We also included a gluten-free option for dessert.

The dinner menu consisted of the following:
Sweet Barbacoa Pulled Pork
Salsa Verde Chicken
Corn Tostadas
Frijoles [Guatemalan-Style Black Beans]
Guatemalan Tomato Salsa [My Tia's Recipe]
Cucumber and Tomato Salad with Lime
Guacamole and Blue Corn Chips
Cotija Cheese and Cilantro for Tostada Toppings
Home-made Sangria
Cerveza
Fruit-Infused Water

It was a pleasant time.... dinner was truly an affair to remember.
The fiesta was a success!
Quaint, but fun.

Now, off to another celebration...
Feliz Cumpleanos to all those August Birthdays!

ME: A lil' Vacay

I'm sorry I haven't been posting recently. But, hubby and I just returned from a little vacay in Colorado.... and there is no way that I can have everything put together to include pre-planned posts during my absence from the computer. Sometimes I can be that put together... but, most of the time... something has to give. And this time... it was my blog posts.

But, I am back.... and I wanted to share with you some of the fun photos from our trip.
It was, for both of us, our first time ever to visit Colorado.
Oh. My. Goodness.... what a GORGEOUS place!

We flew into Denver and drove to the Vail Valley. The purpose of our trip was to attend a very special wedding... and that was just the icing on this vacay cake. We really enjoyed ourselves!
Take a look for yourselves:

The view from one of our zip-lining platforms.
Yes, this is me. The photo was captured while I was flipping upside-down to ride the rest of this line. Fun!
Vail, Colorado.
Hello, Rocky Mountains. Nice to meet ya!
The view from our Lodge Room.
One of the many trails we hiked during our time in the Rocky Mountains.
Horseback Riding. It's been a long time and I had a blast with my horse, Willie!
And this was why we were there... a beautiful and special wedding.
So long, Colorado.... until next time.

AND THERE WILL be a next time!

I posted several of these photos on Instagram. You can always follow me here for more real-time postings. You know... just in case I don't have it all together on the blog.

Now, back to the real world....

WORDS: You Should Be Proud of That

Another life to celebrate...

We enjoyed a First-Vacay-Dinner at our favorite sushi joint.
Here's looking at you kid!

It was wonderful to deliver this commissioned piece to my client last week.

It is such an honor to create artwork for individuals and a privilege to have them place them into their homes!
I am truly thankful to be able to paint.
