CHAIRISH: Holiday Entertaining

If you haven't been introduced to Chairish yet.... let me do the honors!

"Awesome Blog Reader, meet Chairish."
"Chairish, meet Awesome Blog Reader."

Now let me tell you a little more about Chairish.
It's an online consignment marketplace for designed obsessed people [can you see why I love it?!?!].
Not only can you buy online, but you can sell your awesome and exceptional pre-owned home accessories and furnishing through them. AWESOMENESS!
Honest... to goodness... Vintage Furniture at its finest.

So... I was inevitably tickled pink when Chairish reached out to me to design a holiday table for a memorable meal when hosting a get-together for family and friends this holiday season!

THE MISSION:
Choose a favorite piece from Chairish's fabulous collection and design a seasonal table around it.

Now.... this is my cup of tea: DESIGN, VINTAGE, TABLESCAPES!
I'm getting goose bumps.

Let me share with you what I put together... and I didn't stop with just the tablescape!

MY INSPIRATION PIECE:
Vintage Etched Glass Dessert Plates - Set of 8

RIGHT?!??!
Aren't these just glamorously perfect?!
These sent my heart into a flutter.
Plates designed by Tiffin in 1930's with hand-applied 22k art deco designed edging!

You know how this girl loves everything about these --> Hollywood Regency Glam at it's finest.
This had to be the starting point of my design.
But, I first wanted to start my design with the table/room in which these beauties would be on display.

And I just LOVE to mix things up... right?
Glam - Modern - Gold - Silver - Vintage - Rustic
It's all used in my design and I love how it all feels like they were meant to be in perfect unison... together!

Upper Left: Starburst Antique Brass Chandeleir
Lower Left: Vintage French Farm Table
Upper Right:Vintage Bertoia Side Chairs Restored
Center Right: Pair of Robsjohn Gibbings Style Klismos
Lower Right: Overdye Patchwork Vintage Grey - 8'1" x 10' 1"

Chairish also has FABRIC!
I found these two perfect patterns... and a Schumacher.... yes, please!
I would use the Vintage Schumacher Leopard Camo for the pair of Robsjohn Gibbings chair cushions and the Jane Churchill Darwin for the vintage Bertoia cushions.

Left - Vintage Schumacher Leopard Camo | Right - Jane Chruchill Darwin Ivory

Simply perfection!
Now... finally to the tabletop.

I thought all of these pieces would work beautifully together and would incorporate/mix well with my white ceramic dinner and serving plates. I also have some beautiful silver chargers which would be a lovely base for the layering of dishes and add to the mix of metals.

Upper Left: Vintage Glass Etched Dessert Plates - Set of 8
Lower Left: Saint Louis "Bizet" Crystal Wine Jug
Lower Center: 24K Gold Plated Flatware - Service for 8
Upper Right: Baccarat Crystal Onde Wine Glasses - Set of 6
Center Right: Crystal Hostess Flatware Set - Set of 3
Lower Right: Vintage Moroccan Wool Berber Runner

Doesn't this all just blend so lovely together.
Warmth + stunning gold + fresh clear crystal... makes for a beautiful and comfortable place to gather with family and friends.

Now for the finishing touch, a simply elegant centerpiece.

I found these beautiful french horn candleholders and I thought they would fit perfectly scattered with my set of antique silver creamers filled with baby poinsettias and evergreen garland draped down the center of the table.

But..... these puppies have already sold. They do have other vintage brass candleholder sets that would look lovely, too.

Brass French Horn Candle Holders - SOLD

What do you think?
Would you come over for a holiday gathering around my Glamorously Vintage Holiday Chairish-picked Designed table?

And hurry... today is the last day for guaranteed Christmas delivery through Chairish.

New Pretties Added to my Kitchen

I've done [yet another] update to our little Double-Wide in the Sky.

This time... in the kitchen!

And I have got to say.... I LOVE IT!

When we first moved in 2.5 years ago [wow, I can't believe it's been that long now!], I knew I wanted something on the wall of our kitchen. Essentially, this is our only kitchen wall, but 1 of 3 actual walls in our main living area [the 4th is a wall of windows]. This wall had to have interest!

So, I had white platters and a clock on hand when we moved in...
and that's what I initially scattered on this wall.
It worked well.
For almost 2.5 years.

But then.... I wanted something with a little more POP!
A little more artisty-fartsy!

And that's when I designed this:

I love the 3D component of this display.

The ceramic flowers can be found here at Arhaus.
I ordered both the medium and small magnolia plates.
And the clock is a cheap one from Amazon.com found here.

I left the hash marks out from the display of the clock, I like the simplicity of just the numbers.

I quite enjoy the coloring of the ceramic flowers. I thought I was going to miss the white, but this is more subtle, more delicate which actually adds to the overall artistic display. Plus, I love how they complement the drapery.

I might add a few more flowers, but in the meantime I am pretty pleased with this look.
I will say, the clock has only been up for a few days and it has already lost time on several occasions. Grrrrr... not a fan of climbing up on that counter and fixing it. Since it was a descent price, I may get another and replace it.

I updated the Home Sweet Home page, so you can see all the recent "New Pretties" throughout our home.
It's amazing the transformation that has taken place over the last 2.5 years.

But, I must say... I LOVE spending time in my home.

It is HOME SWEET HOME!

Pretty Golden Gifts

Are you one to brave the Black Friday crowds?

Me?

Not so much.

I did brave the flea market crowd, though.... on Black Friday.
It really wasn't much of a crowd... but, I did do a lot of walking and that helped burn some extra calories which I consumed on Thanksgiving Day.

Anyway, I have been crushing on gold since before gold was really "back in"... but, now that it is.... it's EVERYWHERE and that makes my heart very very happy!

So, if you have someone on your shopping list like me, here are a few things I put together as a pretty golden gift list:

1 | 2 | 3 | 4
And the flatware below is DEFINITELY on my Wish List.
[Honey.... hint hint.... honey.]

West Elm Rose Gold Flatware

My love for gold has been prominently appearing in some of my new artwork.
Like this large abstract below.
I am currently working on a commissioned piece in a pink colorway with gold... LOVE IT!

Electric Youth | Acrylic on 36" x 36" Canvas | Available

Now off to burn more calories.... decorating the house for Christmas!
Can't wait to share pics with you in the weeks to come.
There will be a lot of silver, red... and of course, GOLD on display.

Happy Weekend, friends!

FURNITURE: Dorothy Draper Espana Chest

I found a great deal [Craig's List] on a Vintage Reproduction Dorothy Draper Espana Chest awhile back.

It really needed some TLC.

New drawer pulls and a paint job.

I found the perfect pulls here at Lee Valley... but, the paint job I have been putting off.

Source: Domino Magazine

I contemplated doing the paint job myself with a high gloss paint.
I thought I would just stick with the original black and gold color scheme.

Source: Matchbook Magazine

But then, I had this crazy idea about really making an impact with a high gloss lacquered white color...
with the gold/brass accents.

Source: Turquoise LA

I even contemplated a bold move with color.
But, since I am sticking to more neutrals with my furniture pieces.... the winner is high gloss lacquered white!

Here is an image with my Vintage Reproduction Dorothy Draper Chest.

The white lacquer will look so clean and crisp.... a perfect vintage/modern mix!

It's in the shop now at Again and Again.
I also went with the professional route for the redo...
THEY have the experience with high gloss white lacquer!

I can't wait until it comes back home.
I'll share more before and after photos upon its return!

Mix of Vintage and Modern

It's no secret that I simply adore mixing vintage with modern.

And... well.... oops I did it again!

I found this vintage sofa table at Lost...antiques from a vendor just a few spaces down from me.

SCORE!

I simply LOVE it!

And it works quite well with my vintage lucite and brass coffee table discussed here.

It has a beveled mirror top that is just divine.

The previous stools I had were too big and bulky for this piece. So, I thought I would mix in some sleek modern with a mix of metal to balance out the vintage brass sofa table.

I just LOVE the effect.

And can you spy the vintage Dorothy Draper Chest in the pic below?
That is about to get a major overhaul, too!

I will have it lacquered in a high gloss white.... can't wait!
I'll share pics when it's completed, cured and back home with me.

Have a FABULOUS Friday and weekend, friends!

New Pretty Added to my Foyer

I picked up this antique mirror a few weeks ago at the awesome Thrift Studio I had written about here.

It is such an AMAZING piece!
Original wood and paint. I don't think the mirror is original, but it still has an antiqued patina to it.

The frame was in solid condition, so I thought I would give it a shot for my space in the foyer.

It has worked out SO BEAUTIFULLY!

And it is wonderful to get to see my artwork from different angles.
You can always check out more of my pieces here.

I love what antique pieces can do to a space.... especially with a mix of vintage, glam and modern!

What do ya think?

CRUSH: Sarah Briggs Jewelry

I have just increased my physical stock in jewelry this weekend.

Thankfully... my favorite jewelry designer, Sarah Briggs, was at the Dallas Contemporary! I loaded up on her pieces.

Seriously.

Loaded up!

Here is a shot of my newly collected stash.

Some vintage pieces utilized with modern pieces and some completely modern pieces.

I LOVE this stuff!

As you can see in EXHIBIT A and B.
Two recent photo shoots I've done for projects.

Seriously, this girl is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

And... she is SUCH a sweetheart.... with an adorable baby girl and wonderful husband. I love visiting with her every time I add to my collection. And my dear hubby has actually joined in on the fun and ordered from her --- for a Valentine's Day gift surprise!

Check out her stuff on Etsy and Facebook.

Her pieces are not only creative and GORGEOUS... but, for ladies like me who have had their ears pierced since they were 3 months old {proof I'm Latina}... they are light weight! So, I can wear large beautiful earrings that won't tear my earlobes... PERFECTION!

New Pretties added to My Office and Laundry Room

I made a few more changes and additions to the closet I turned into my office...

With each and every update/change/modification, the space has become more of a reflection of my personality, taste and style. Which is the way it should be ---- right?

Well, when you walk into our home, you can quickly see that I love all things vintage - glamorous - fabulous - unique - artsy - creative and GOLD.

So, that is why a gorgeous GOLDEN pretty modification needed to be made:
I spray painted my mirror GOLD.

And.... I LOVE IT!

That change with the new artwork my kiddo painted for me {the watercolor heart in pink}, just makes this space even happier.... even prettier.... even more --- ME!

I also added this little chevron and greek key rug.

I love all the bold prints going on in this space.

This shows how small of a space it really is.... and that it was indeed intended only to be a walk in closet that leads to our rather small laundry room.

But, that is where I also added some new pieces to help extend the warmth of this space!

I had a little jump up and down moment when I found the large watercolor painting at the antique store that I have my space {Lost... antiques}. While we were all having our large sale, a dealer had over 90% on this huge already-framed piece of art. I just LOVE the colors and knew it would be perfect.... after all, it has a GOLD frame.

But, I was quite concerned it wouldn't fit into the little nook in the wall.
But, the fit is --- PERFECTION!

So, I quickly grabbed the piece of art at a steal of a price and I also picked up a print form Jennifer's space. She had a sale going on as well and this was The Pink Pagoda print that I have had my eye on for quite some time! You can check out more of her awesome prints here!

The other piece of art is more artistic love from my kiddo.

Not too shabby for some simple updates....

I love all my new pretties!
