CHAIRISH: Holiday Entertaining

If you haven't been introduced to Chairish yet.... let me do the honors!

"Awesome Blog Reader, meet Chairish."
"Chairish, meet Awesome Blog Reader."

Now let me tell you a little more about Chairish.
It's an online consignment marketplace for designed obsessed people [can you see why I love it?!?!].
Not only can you buy online, but you can sell your awesome and exceptional pre-owned home accessories and furnishing through them. AWESOMENESS!
Honest... to goodness... Vintage Furniture at its finest.

So... I was inevitably tickled pink when Chairish reached out to me to design a holiday table for a memorable meal when hosting a get-together for family and friends this holiday season!

THE MISSION:
Choose a favorite piece from Chairish's fabulous collection and design a seasonal table around it.

Now.... this is my cup of tea: DESIGN, VINTAGE, TABLESCAPES!
I'm getting goose bumps.

Let me share with you what I put together... and I didn't stop with just the tablescape!

MY INSPIRATION PIECE:
Vintage Etched Glass Dessert Plates - Set of 8

RIGHT?!??!
Aren't these just glamorously perfect?!
These sent my heart into a flutter.
Plates designed by Tiffin in 1930's with hand-applied 22k art deco designed edging!

You know how this girl loves everything about these --> Hollywood Regency Glam at it's finest.
This had to be the starting point of my design.
But, I first wanted to start my design with the table/room in which these beauties would be on display.

And I just LOVE to mix things up... right?
Glam - Modern - Gold - Silver - Vintage - Rustic
It's all used in my design and I love how it all feels like they were meant to be in perfect unison... together!

Upper Left: Starburst Antique Brass Chandeleir
Lower Left: Vintage French Farm Table
Upper Right:Vintage Bertoia Side Chairs Restored
Center Right: Pair of Robsjohn Gibbings Style Klismos
Lower Right: Overdye Patchwork Vintage Grey - 8'1" x 10' 1"

Chairish also has FABRIC!
I found these two perfect patterns... and a Schumacher.... yes, please!
I would use the Vintage Schumacher Leopard Camo for the pair of Robsjohn Gibbings chair cushions and the Jane Churchill Darwin for the vintage Bertoia cushions.

Left - Vintage Schumacher Leopard Camo | Right - Jane Chruchill Darwin Ivory

Simply perfection!
Now... finally to the tabletop.

I thought all of these pieces would work beautifully together and would incorporate/mix well with my white ceramic dinner and serving plates. I also have some beautiful silver chargers which would be a lovely base for the layering of dishes and add to the mix of metals.

Upper Left: Vintage Glass Etched Dessert Plates - Set of 8
Lower Left: Saint Louis "Bizet" Crystal Wine Jug
Lower Center: 24K Gold Plated Flatware - Service for 8
Upper Right: Baccarat Crystal Onde Wine Glasses - Set of 6
Center Right: Crystal Hostess Flatware Set - Set of 3
Lower Right: Vintage Moroccan Wool Berber Runner

Doesn't this all just blend so lovely together.
Warmth + stunning gold + fresh clear crystal... makes for a beautiful and comfortable place to gather with family and friends.

Now for the finishing touch, a simply elegant centerpiece.

I found these beautiful french horn candleholders and I thought they would fit perfectly scattered with my set of antique silver creamers filled with baby poinsettias and evergreen garland draped down the center of the table.

But..... these puppies have already sold. They do have other vintage brass candleholder sets that would look lovely, too.

Brass French Horn Candle Holders - SOLD

What do you think?
Would you come over for a holiday gathering around my Glamorously Vintage Holiday Chairish-picked Designed table?

And hurry... today is the last day for guaranteed Christmas delivery through Chairish.

You can also follow Chairish on pinterest HERE.
They post some pretty inspirational photos to keep this design obsessed person happy!

DESIGN: Mirror Mirror...

As I was taking these photos to share as an update from my last post... I realized that it is quite difficult to snap shots with mirrors all around... so you wouldn't get a peak at the leopard silk pjs I was wearing.

But, even if you spy a little leopard spot action, I was able to capture the below pics.

We LOVE the transformation of our space with these mirrors!
These two geometric mirrors were found at HomeGoods. And they were the PERFECT size for this space. I was going to order some smaller chevron mirrors similar the long wall mirrors, but these fit perfectly and were a fraction of the cost! WIN-WIN!

They replaced a framed art piece, but I have moved that piece into my office. It has a lot of sentimental value because it was the first piece of art I ever painted.

The updates to the buffet just blow me away. What a can of white paint can do!

I replaced the glass on the doors with plywood I had cut to my needed measurements at Lowe's. You know they do that for free?! And it is just so simple to pick out your pieces and head on over to the cutter. I just had to paint the boards and then install them in the buffet. Easy-peasy! And cheap! My hubby really liked the glass, but I didn't like the feel of distraction from the styled shelves inside the cabinet. I could never really get good pictures of party cakes or other set-ups with all that "stuff" feeling like it was in the way. So, this was my solution and I LOVE the outcome!

I also replaced the buffet handles with modern silver handles. I like how they complete the buffet with some shine and sophistication.

The mirrors have added so much brightness, glam, shine and unity to our space.

We simply ADORE them!

The Chevron Tile Wall Mirrors were purchased from West Elm. I was able to hit a "mirror sale" so it really helped with the pricing for three of them.  The chevron tiles give the wall such an elegant and glam look. It looks beautiful from the sides of the room. It adds an understated interest to the space.

And here is a sneak peak of another favorite addition of ours... our Chiang Mai Dragon throw pillows in the new Spring 2014 Smoke Colorway!

LOVE them! I'll be sharing more information on them later this month.

This just makes me enjoy our space so much more... and I didn't even know that was possible!

What do you think?
Do you have a wall full of mirrors somewhere in your home?

CRUSH: Parker Kennedy Living

Even though my home's color palette is that of neutral tones as seen here, I LOVE color in design.

I tried bold colors in our space during the first year of us living here. I used teal, yellow, blue, and reds. I enjoyed the vignettes in my home, but we found that they were in constant battle over our view. Seeing how we have floor to ceiling windows on one entire side of our home overlooking downtown Dallas.... we realized that we were never going to win the battle. I had to let the view be the star of the decorative design of our home. Therefore, I started my shift towards a neutral color scheme throughout our space. Embellishing it with crystal, gold, unique and shiny objects to add interest. This way our eyes and spirits were calmed and soothed within the walls of the home, but once the eyes extended past the windows and into the view of downtown, they could get lost in all the activity and bussel.

All that being said.... I CAN NOT starve myself from color. I have a LOVE... and OBSESSION with color. And I get to fulfill my cravings through pretty stationary, accessories to fill my office, jewelry, and.... through instagram. Yep, instagram.

I started following Parker Kenedy Living awhile ago. I realized that I have actually admired their work for quite some time and just didn't know who was behind it.

DETAILS : Kiddo's Room

Things are starting to come together for the re-redesign of kiddo's room. We are all excited about it.... for real! At first, both my hubby and kiddo were not too thrilled about doing yet another redesign on the bedroom, but they both understood how dark the room can be. So, our goal is lightening and brightening up the space in this go around.

We are succeeding!

One of the big things we have decided to do is to get rid of his big bulky dark corner desk. It has served us quite well now for over 7 years. We found a vintage campaign desk at Scout Design Studio that kiddo just loves. We are planning to lacquer the desk and another piece red to match one of the Ikea bookcases we purchased in the previous redesign. We will be creating a whole new command center station for him with all these pieces.

Another change we are doing is wallpaper! I mentioned it before in this post, but the wallpaper has been ordered and the team has been contracted to pull it all together in the next month or so..... yippee! This will be the biggest change. We want the wallpaper to be the star of the room, so we will be limiting the art we choose for the wall --- obviously the vintage Star Wars Subway Poster will still make the cut.

Here are some pieces from our redesign:

Cole and Son Woods Wallpaper | CB2 Bear Pillow | West Elm Reclaimed Pine Nightstand

We have already started some of the furniture changes in his room and it is already making a HUGE difference. So much more room and a lighter and brighter feel already!

Can't wait to show y'all the reveal!
And.... maybe this time.... will be the last time?!?!?

Spring Thrift Studio

I am SO thrilled the Dwell with Dignity's Spring Thrift Studio Preview Party finally happened!

Every single vignette was beautifully designed!

Beauty!
Glamor!
Shopping!

What more could make this girl happy?!
Oh, yes... champagne, hor d'oeuvres and... the money raised is going to a great cause!

Here are some of the incredible vignettes:

Jan Showers
Julio Quiones + Culp Associates
Mecox
Tompkins Lloyd Interiors + David Sutherland Studio

Although, the party was last night, the Spring Thrift Studio will be opened until May 10th!
So, CHECK IT OUT!

They replenish the pop-up shop with new items throughout the month. I tend to go every few days to make sure I don't miss out on any new goodies. I have to stop by today and pick-up the large white dragon ginger jars my wonderful hubby purchased for me. I can't wait to see them in my home! I'm sure to look around to see if there is anything else that I so desperately need. Hah!

It was also wonderful last night to reunite with some friends:
My InstaFriend Stephanie Campos [she is a pretty amazing girl - follow her on Instagram here] and...

an amazing young artist who is as sweet as he is cute! He painted the piece shown in the photos below for auction. It sold at a "Buy It Now" price! Yippee! Also, through a wonderful partnership, he was able to take home a full-size copy on canvas of his artwork to treasure for years to come.

Now, I'm off to pick up my goodies!

Have a FANTASTIC weekend, friends!

Acrylic on 36" x 48" Canvas - The Tide is High - Donated to Dwell with Dignity

I mentioned Dwell with Dignity in this post from last August when I announced my first piece of artwork I donated to them for their Fall Thrift Studio.

Since then, I had two pieces of work in their 2013 Fall Thrift Studio Vignettes.
The below diptych was commissioned by Leslie Pritchard of Again and Again to utilize in her vignette. She did such an AMAZING jobs... those chairs.... those lamp shades!

This was a VERY fun piece to work on and I am honored to have been a part of her vignette!

Acrylic Diptych on 36" x 48" - Again and Again

If you haven't already heard of Dwell with Dignity.... let me share with you:

Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit group of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. They provide and install home interiors for families that include furnishings, art, bedding, kitchen supplies and food in the pantry.

Beginning April 10th, Dwell with Dignity will host their SPRING Thrift Studio.

What's a Thrift Studio you ask?

It is a a bi-annual 30 day pop-up shop created to provide financial viability and fundraising for Dwell with Dignity through selling the overstock of donated, gently used furniture, housewares, accessories and high end designer finds to the public. All proceeds benefit the future work, growth, organization and structure of Dwell with Dignity!

Each Thrift Studio has a cast of fabulous designers that design and install vignettes using items from Dwell with Dignity's warehouse as well as items they have donated from their own inventory.  All the items are for sale to help Dwell with Dignity support families escape poverty and homelessness.

The Spring Thrift Studio will be kicked off with a Preview Party on April 10th.
With their list of designers for this season's vignettes... it's sure to be AMAZING!

Hope to see you there!
