ME: I have a book

Well, ok.

Not so much a book, but a little square portfolio.

I created this book on Blurb

It was super easy. I just used their ready made template, because it was perfect for my application.
To see the complete book, you can check it out below.

RECIPE: Watermelon Margaritas

I have a friend named Margarita.

I do.

But, I have never really liked margaritas. The drink.... not the friend.

I really like Margarita. The friend... not the drink.

Confused yet?

Anyway.... I really like THIS margarita. Both the friend... and the drink.

For the rest of this post, I will just stick with telling you about this drink... the Watermelon Margarita.

You're welcome.

Watermelon Margarita
3 1/2 cups of seeded and cubed watermelon
1/2 cup tequila
2 Tablespoons of cane sugar [or regular sugar]
3 Tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
1 Tablespoon of Orange Liqueur

Combine all ingredients into a blender and process until smooth.
Pour the drink into glasses with crushed ice and garnish as desired.

Enjoy!

This is quite the refreshing drink. Just enough sweetness and very very smooth.

Perfecto on a hot summer day!

I also made a mocktail version a Watermelon Mocktail for my kiddo.
I left out all the alcohol [of course] and replaced with sprite zero and some orange juice. He seemed to enjoy it.

Now... I think I am going to go have a margarita with my friend Margarita.
Cheers!

CRUSH: Pop O' Color Pillows

I did it.

I did what I was contemplating doing in this post.

I submitted to my dragon desires.

The flow of this fabric has captivated me from the beginning... but, then to offer it in a "Smoke" color way.... SOLD!

I knew I just HAD to have a pair.

Pillows by Katie Corrigan from Pop O' Color on Etsy

I was SO thrilled to receive my Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon [in Smoke] pillows from Pop O' Color recently. So thrilled and in love am I... that I ordered another pair from Katie!

Oh yes... I did it again!

She has such a fabulous collection of fabrics to choose from, it doesn't stop with my little dragon obsession. And you do know that pillows pack a powerful punch... right?!

Check out her Etsy shop here, it's so easy to place an order... hint hint...

Artwork by JoJo : Carnations

I spent some time this weekend working on a few pieces... and watching some 80's movies.
Who doesn't love a good chick flick - 80's - vintage pop - happy ending movie?

And when you have Molly Ringwald in the mix... well, you just know it will be a little piece of perfection.

Acrylic on 36" x 36" Canvas | 16 Candles
Molly Ringwald decked out in blue and pink carnations in the movie "Sixteen Candles".
Yes... the movie was "Sixteen Candles" and yes.... it inspired me to paint the piece in this post.
Those carnations.... that face... it just says it all!

Did you ever get the privilege of being all decked out in blue and pink carnations for a wedding or some other fabulous 80's affair?

I did! Oh the memories.

"16 Candles" the painting [not the movie] is now available at Lost...antiques in the Dallas Design District.

And stay tuned for an announcement later this week for a very special SALE coming up!

DESIGN: Mirror Mirror...

As I was taking these photos to share as an update from my last post... I realized that it is quite difficult to snap shots with mirrors all around... so you wouldn't get a peak at the leopard silk pjs I was wearing.

But, even if you spy a little leopard spot action, I was able to capture the below pics.

We LOVE the transformation of our space with these mirrors!
These two geometric mirrors were found at HomeGoods. And they were the PERFECT size for this space. I was going to order some smaller chevron mirrors similar the long wall mirrors, but these fit perfectly and were a fraction of the cost! WIN-WIN!

They replaced a framed art piece, but I have moved that piece into my office. It has a lot of sentimental value because it was the first piece of art I ever painted.

The updates to the buffet just blow me away. What a can of white paint can do!

I replaced the glass on the doors with plywood I had cut to my needed measurements at Lowe's. You know they do that for free?! And it is just so simple to pick out your pieces and head on over to the cutter. I just had to paint the boards and then install them in the buffet. Easy-peasy! And cheap! My hubby really liked the glass, but I didn't like the feel of distraction from the styled shelves inside the cabinet. I could never really get good pictures of party cakes or other set-ups with all that "stuff" feeling like it was in the way. So, this was my solution and I LOVE the outcome!

I also replaced the buffet handles with modern silver handles. I like how they complete the buffet with some shine and sophistication.

The mirrors have added so much brightness, glam, shine and unity to our space.

We simply ADORE them!

The Chevron Tile Wall Mirrors were purchased from West Elm. I was able to hit a "mirror sale" so it really helped with the pricing for three of them.  The chevron tiles give the wall such an elegant and glam look. It looks beautiful from the sides of the room. It adds an understated interest to the space.

And here is a sneak peak of another favorite addition of ours... our Chiang Mai Dragon throw pillows in the new Spring 2014 Smoke Colorway!

LOVE them! I'll be sharing more information on them later this month.

This just makes me enjoy our space so much more... and I didn't even know that was possible!

What do you think?
Do you have a wall full of mirrors somewhere in your home?

DESIGN: Wall of Mirrors

Our dining room has been a little bit of a challenge for me.
It needs to serve many purposes: functionality, flow with the rest of our open space and be a pleasant haven.

I know I have mentioned this countless times, but the floor to ceiling windows on one entire side of our home also presents a challenge in room layout and decor. But, I started to see more and more mirrored walls in design and it got me thinking. It looks classy, elegant and pleasant in my opinion. Then I started thinking it would open up the space and reflect the view from our floor to ceiling windows.

I have been planning this change for several months now. Another component of dissatisfaction was a buffet bookcase we have in our space. It was perfect for our last home, but the style has not fit in to our new surroundings quite well. I have been on a search to replace this piece since we moved in... but, I have not found a suitable replacement. So, I decided to bite the bullet and revamp this buffet! I took out the glass, replaced them with solid panels and painted the entire thing white! Plus I changed out the hardware and this has made all the difference in the world!

Now, I am just finishing up some of the changes on the wall --- adding the mirrors.

Can't wait to show you the final outcome!

ARTWORK by JoJo: Pastel Fun

It's starting to get a little hot here.
Plenty of nice summer rain and temperatures have not hit 100 degree yet... therefore, I am NOT complaining.

But, when it comes to late afternoons, the humidity and heat makes it a little more unpleasant to do anything much outside. So, I have been opting to stay inside and paint.

Here are some of my latest pieces:

Acrylic on 36" x 36" Canvas | Gloria | Available

I really enjoy working with pastel colors.
They just make me so happy.

Acrylic on 11" x 14" Canvas Board | I Think We're Alone Now | Available

The below piece we have enjoyed for awhile in our home. It was on a black and white gallery wall. But, we are changing up that wall and adding all mirrors. So, this piece will need to find a new home... maybe yours?

Acrylic on 20" x 20" Canvas | Step By Step | Available

Here's to painting more of the summer afternoons away...
