This has been an emotional weekend for us.... for many reasons.

So, I thought I would just share some pretty pics of Dallas.... and some special words.

Because that's where it all is.

INTERIORS: Black and White with Grey Bedroom

I have been wanting to get my hands on these Platinum Mongolian Pillows at West Elm to replace some black and white striped throw pillows on my bed.

West Elm's Platinum Mongolian Lamb Pillow Cover
So --- what do I do when I want to see if some more grey mixed with my black and white will work?

Well, check around for some inspiration!

I thought I would share with you some inspirational photos of black and white bedrooms with a little grey.

It kind of makes me want to rethink my paint color on the walls. Maybe a really soft white/grey.
Except the current Martha Stewart's Driftwood Grey really is warm and wonderful feeling.

I think I'll just stick to the pillow change for now... that's quick and easy.

A Prize Drawing with Heart

Would you like an original abstract painting?

Would you like an original abstract painting for as little as $25?

Would you like to receive an original abstract painting that could also help save a life?

"Tachycardia" an Original Abstract Acrylic Painting by JoJo
You may not know my story....
It's a long one.

I shared bits and pieces.... here.

But, in short... I have a HEART that is MENDING.

LITERALLY.

So, I am walking in the American Heart Association Heart Walk in Dallas, Texas on September 7, 2013.
This will be my 2nd walk and I will once again be walking with the Passion Committee.... a group of women who share the same PASSION of spreading awareness that Heart Disease is THE leading killer of women in America.

1 out of 3 women will die from heart disease or stroke.

1 out of 3!!!!

So, it is my passion.... my mission.... to help fight heart disease in women.
Especially, since I am a survivor and I live with heart disease.

I volunteer with the Go Red for Women Passion Committee to help fight heart disease.

I walk to help fight heart disease.

I paint to help fight heart disease.

Hence, this painting.

I am donating this original acrylic abstract painting framed in a vintage black velvet and faux gold bamboo frame.

For EVERY $25 dollars you donate to the American Heart Association, I will place your name in a drawing to receive this painting.

"Tachycardia" Original Abstract Acrylic on 5"x7" Canvas Board with Overall Frame is 9"x11"
HOW DO YOU DONATE?

You go to my Heart Walk Fundraising page: HERE

* All qualifying donations for this drawing must be done through my fundraising page.

You provide a tax deductible {and if you choose - anonymous} donation via the web link.

I will receive an email with your name and donation {if it is anonymous.... no one else will know you donated}. And for every $25 you donated..... I will submit one entry with your name for a drawing to receive this painting. I will also DONATE the shipping {if it needs to be shipped... but ONLY within the continental United States}. I will send you an email if you win.

The winner will be drawn on Sunday, September 8th, 2013.

I LOVE the Red Dress Pin which is the logo for the Go Red for Women Movement. I wear mine frequently {and so does my hubby}. It is not only cute, but it is a GREAT conversation starter. You can receive a FREE Red Dress Pin when you sign up for the Go Red for Women Movement. I will also provide a FREE Red Dress Pin with the painting!

FOOD: Simple but Pretty Presentation

This is how I now serve my carrots and celery at any party, luncheon, picnic or little get-together.

I never really liked any other presentations for veggies and dip. And then a friend shared with me how she had arranged the veggies in a small baby jar for a shower.

I thought... BRILLIANT!

Simple and gorgeous!

I have now taken it to so many levels.... from ranch dip to hummus.

From carrots and celery to colorful bell peppers and cucumbers.

From larger glasses to small shot glasses.

Simple but beautiful presentation!

CRUSH: Pillow Talk

Etsy.... how I love thee.

I was just wasting spending some time on the shopping website to look for a little made-with-love pillow to add to my chocolate couch.

When I happened across Caitlin at BrightJuly

Pillows by Caitlin at Bright July on Etsy

She has some ADORABLE pillows!

I was searching for something in black and white to help counter-balance the brown on my couch. Plus, I thought it would be wonderful to bring in some of the black and white from our bedroom to our main living space. I recently added some Trina Turk pillows to the mix and was looking for one more smaller piece to bring in a little bit of personality.

When I saw Caitlin's "New York" pillow --- I about flipped!

I thought it was perfect, so I checked the rest of her listings and she had several other cities, but not "Dallas".

I thought.... "Dallas" would be perfect when this is my view from said couch during the day ---

And view from said couch at night ---

Then a little brilliant conversation started with Caitlin through Etsy's email system.

HELLO... DALLAS!

A PERFECT custom order!

VERY VERY quickly shipped, professionally made and Caitlin is a sweet person to work with on such a custom piece!

THANK YOU!

You can check out the rest of Caitlin's pillows at her BrightJuly Etsy shop.

Have you ordered a custom piece from Etsy and fallen head over heels in love with the final product?

New Pretties added to My Office and Laundry Room

I made a few more changes and additions to the closet I turned into my office...

With each and every update/change/modification, the space has become more of a reflection of my personality, taste and style. Which is the way it should be ---- right?

Well, when you walk into our home, you can quickly see that I love all things vintage - glamorous - fabulous - unique - artsy - creative and GOLD.

So, that is why a gorgeous GOLDEN pretty modification needed to be made:
I spray painted my mirror GOLD.

And.... I LOVE IT!

That change with the new artwork my kiddo painted for me {the watercolor heart in pink}, just makes this space even happier.... even prettier.... even more --- ME!

I also added this little chevron and greek key rug.

I love all the bold prints going on in this space.

This shows how small of a space it really is.... and that it was indeed intended only to be a walk in closet that leads to our rather small laundry room.

But, that is where I also added some new pieces to help extend the warmth of this space!

I had a little jump up and down moment when I found the large watercolor painting at the antique store that I have my space {Lost... antiques}. While we were all having our large sale, a dealer had over 90% on this huge already-framed piece of art. I just LOVE the colors and knew it would be perfect.... after all, it has a GOLD frame.

But, I was quite concerned it wouldn't fit into the little nook in the wall.
But, the fit is --- PERFECTION!

So, I quickly grabbed the piece of art at a steal of a price and I also picked up a print form Jennifer's space. She had a sale going on as well and this was The Pink Pagoda print that I have had my eye on for quite some time! You can check out more of her awesome prints here!

The other piece of art is more artistic love from my kiddo.

Not too shabby for some simple updates....

I love all my new pretties!

CRUSH: Greek Key Rug

I LOVE Black and White Greek Keys.

I have a little obsession over them.

It's quite difficult to contain that obsession when it comes to decorating my bedroom.... but --- I think I have a pretty good balance going.

That being said, I have a CRUSH on this Suzanne Sharp Greek Key Rug.

I love the size of the greek key pattern. The large print keeps it kind of subtle looking. Interesting.
